'Coding LAB for All' Successfully CompletedCacao Bank announced today that it has successfully completed the training course of ‘Coding LAB for All,’ a coding education program for young people.

Since September, Kakao Bank has been providing coding education to approximately 900 middle school students from 48 schools in the Seoul metropolitan area.

'Coding LAB for All' is a program that helps young people develop problem-solving skills and creativity through coding education, and was designed by Kakao Bank and the Kids and Future Foundation.

Students participating in the program received six sessions of coding education, where professional coding instructors taught them about the basic principles of coding, such as creating smartphone apps using AI and implementing problem-solving programs with software.

Kakao Bank donated a total of KRW 400 million to the Kids and Future Foundation for the Coding LAB, and the donation was used to conduct coding education programs, run competitions, and produce educational videos. A competition was also held based on the education program.

In this contest, all participants submitted app designs with their ideas on the theme of ‘solving social problems,’ and 20 teams were selected to advance to the main round from a total of 113 teams through judging.

The finalists were mentored by coding experts and given the opportunity to demonstrate their demo apps.

At the final round of the competition, held at the COEX Magok Convention Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on March 23, various apps to solve social problems were introduced, including ‘I'll Protect You,’ a counseling app that allows users to contact lawyers and counselors in case of school violence, and ‘Bold Order for the Elderly,’ an information app that guides users on how to use kiosks for the digitally vulnerable.

Throughout the year, Kakao Bank continued its educational support activities for youth, including the “DREAM Room” project, which provides study rooms to children of multi-generational national heroes, and the “Everyone's Independence” project, which provides financial education and financial consulting to young people preparing for independence.

A representative from Kakao Bank said, “In line with the mandatory coding education policy, we have designed an educational program to enhance the IT skills of young people,” adding, “We will continue to provide various support activities to help young people grow into leading members of society while working to solve social problems.”
