The Mercedes-Benz Committee for Social Contribution held a “Mercedes-Benz All Together” donation ceremony on May 19, and presented a total of KRW 250 million in educational support to 34 child and youth social welfare organizations nationwide.

The ceremony was held at Mercedes-Benz Korea's headquarters with Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Committee for Social Contribution Matthias Weitl, Committee Member Eunjung Lee, Executive Director Hyo-seung Kim of the Children and Future Foundation, and two representative beneficiary organizations in attendance.

The Mercedes-Benz All Together for Education is an employee-participation social contribution program in which employees of Mercedes-Benz Korea, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Korea and 11 authorized dealerships directly nominate and support social welfare organizations for children and youth in need of financial support for education in their local communities.

This year, 34 social welfare organizations in eight provinces across the country were selected through employee nominations, including Yongsan Happy Independent Living Center for the Disabled in Seoul, Hope Tree Community Children's Center in Anyang, and Gyeongdongwon in Suwon.

The funds will be used by the organizations to improve educational facilities for children and adolescents and support their educational expenses.

“We sincerely hope that children and young people can overcome cultural, economic and educational disparities through better educational opportunities and build a valuable future for themselves,” said Matthias Weitl, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Cars. “We will continue to work together with the local community through the active participation of employees within the Mercedes-Benz network and various support projects.”

One of the beneficiaries, the Yongsan Happy Independent Living Center for the Disabled, will use the funds to support cultural and educational programs for children with developmental disabilities.

“For children with developmental disabilities, art education is not just a hobby, but a valuable opportunity to build self-esteem and communicate with the world,” said Shin Hyun-ok, director of the center, who attended the donation ceremony. “We will do our best to make sure that this program adds color to their hearts and hope to their lives.”

In addition, the Hope Tree Community Children's Center plans to use the funds to install fire safety devices in the center to create a safe educational space for children.

“With the support of this educational fund, we are able to build a fire safety infrastructure at the center so that children can receive education in a safer environment,” said Seol Mi-kyung, director of the Hope Tree Community Children's Center, who attended the fund delivery ceremony. “We ask for your continued interest and support so that children can grow up healthy.”
